あらずじ 天才外科医のHawkeyeとデュークは意に沿わないながらも軍務に就き、前線の野戦病院に赴く。 この野戦病院では正規の軍人と徴兵された兵士、軍医と看護婦の間で諍い がおきており、それに二人の登場で様々ないたずらが加わり、事件が起きる。 嫌われ者のキャプテン・バーンズは新しくやってきた型破りの軍医二人のために自分を見失い、失意の中にある歯科医師は、自殺を試みる。 そんな中、ボンウィット・シスターズが若い兵士の歓迎と、看護婦たちの軽蔑のなか慰問に訪れ、看護婦たちの苛めにあう。 このような状況を耐え忍んできた野戦病院の責任者のブレイク大佐は、苦々しく思ってきた二人の軍医のおかげで、フットボールの試合で 、上官であるハモンド司令官のチームから念願の一勝をあげる…… 最後に、すったもんだの事件を引き起こしてきた二人は、惜しまれながら（？）野戦病院を去る。
